Marketing campaign Planner

UNDP - Yes Project

Project Overview

As the Marketing Campaign Planner for the UNDP YES Project with CodersTrust Bangladesh, I was responsible for designing and executing campaigns to reach disadvantaged youth living in the Korail Slum of Dhaka, home to over 200,000 dwellers.

The initiative, launched in collaboration with UNDP, the Bangladesh Government, and Swanirvar Bangladesh, aimed to provide digital skills training, mentorship, and career opportunities to young people who had limited access to education, resources, and exposure to the digital economy.

My role was to ensure awareness, engagement, and participation in this life-changing program through strategic planning and community-driven campaigns.

Objectives

The primary objectives for this campaign were:

The campaign was designed to achieve four key objectives:

  • Increase Awareness
Run targeted awareness activities within the Korail community to build trust among parents, guardians, and youth.

  • Drive Participation
Motivate young people to join training sessions instead of traditional day labor jobs.

  • Enhance Employability
Highlight success stories and demonstrate how digital skills could lead to sustainable income and independence.

  • Ensure Long-Term Impact
Create pathways for mentorship, financial support, and access to resources for continued career development.

Challenges

  • Low motivation to participate in training programs rather than doing day labor jobs
  • They lack basic resources such as electricity, computer devices and limited financial capacity
  • Due to language barrier, the students were unable to communicate with clients in English
  • Lack of follow-up support and career mentorship: Once the training program is completed, participants may struggle to find employment opportunities to start their own career

Results

Through community-focused campaigns and strategic messaging, the project achieved significant impact:

  • Earned Income Growth — Graduates began earning an average of $100+ per month, increasing household income.

  • 80+ Quality Leads Generated — Enrolled and trained a substantial number of students from the slum area.

  • Community Awareness Raised — Through courtyard meetings, parent counseling, and awareness sessions.

  • Mentorship Development — Graduates became role models and mentors for other youth in the Korail slum.

  • Social Impact — Created a cultural shift within the community by proving digital work as a viable career.

Conclusion

As the campaign planner, I:

  • Designed awareness campaigns within Korail slum, including courtyard meetings and parent counseling.

  • Facilitated the setup of a fully equipped computer lab for practical training.

  • Coordinated fundraising and bank loan access to help students invest in their careers.

  • Introduced a Basic English Communication module to strengthen employability.

  • Established one-to-one mentorship programs to ensure long-term guidance and career support.

This project not only provided training but also transformed lives by turning disadvantaged youth into skilled digital professionals, mentors, and contributors to their communities—building sustainable pathways out of poverty.
