Project Overview

As the Product Marketer at Dokan Inc., I led the marketing strategy and positioning for the launch and growth of our e-commerce solutions: Dokan WordPress Plugin and Dokan Cloud. Our mission was clear—empower entrepreneurs, small business owners, and marketplace operators to build and scale online stores without technical barriers.

In January 2025, we officially launched Dokan Cloud Shop, a fully hosted SaaS platform, designed to eliminate challenges like hosting, security, and payment integration. My role was to ensure the product reached the right audience, solved the right problems, and delivered measurable business impact.

Objectives

As part of the marketing campaign, my primary goals were:

  • Expand Global Reach
    Position Dokan Cloud as an accessible solution for entrepreneurs in both developed and emerging markets.

  • Empower Non-Technical Entrepreneurs
    Highlight simplicity and usability through storytelling, campaigns, and educational content.

  • Boost Marketplace Success
    Drive awareness of features like vendor dashboards, flexible commissions, and integrated payments to increase vendor adoption.

  • Maximize ROI for Users
    Showcase how Dokan enables store owners to streamline operations, increase conversions, and scale revenue.

Challenges

In developing the marketing strategy, I identified and addressed several challenges:

  • Many small businesses lacked technical knowledge to set up hosting or WordPress environments.

  • Regional vendors needed local payment gateways like bKash, Paystack, or SSLCommerz alongside global ones.

  • Limited resources (time, budget, expertise) held back small businesses from marketing and scaling effectively.

  • Vendors required continuous education, mentorship, and product support after setup to succeed long term.

Results

Through targeted campaigns, product positioning, and user education, we achieved:

  • Global Adoption — Thousands of stores launched across Asia, Europe, Africa, and North America.

  • $100M+ in Transactions — Facilitated by vendors running on Dokan platforms.

  • 80+ Payment Gateways Integrated — Covering both global options (Stripe, PayPal) and regionals (bKash, Paystack, Razorpay).

  • High Lead Generation — Our Dokan Cloud launch campaign generated thousands of qualified sign-ups within months.
